Lamp Lighting

The lamp lighting ceremony is an auspicious occasion in every
nurse’s life, held in reverence to Florence Nightingale, the lady
with the lamp. Nursing is the only profession that follows lamp
lighting ceremony. Light, as a symbol of knowledge, removes
ignorance and is a lasting wealth by which lots could be achieved.
The lamp lighting ceremony formally recognises the students’ entry
into the nursing profession.

Lamp lighting ceremony of B.SC first year will be held Every
year.
Program followed by the procession of all dignitaries, parents and
B.sc nursing first year students. Then program will be continued by
prayer song, welcome address, inauguration of lamp lighting, prize
distribution & address by all the dignitaries. Program will be end
up with the vote of thanks and national anthem.

EnFuego
EnFuego - Means “On Fire” in Spanish. EnFuego
calls students to burn the stage with their talents.
EnFuego Mega Cultural Event (The women’s festival) every year.
St Johns Group of Institution hosts Inter College Sports meet and Mega Cultural Event from all
colleges in and around Vellore to compete on big scale to show their
talents.

Novel Corona Virus
The event was aimed to spread awareness about the Novel Corona Virus and precautionary measures for the same.
Field visit For B.Sc. Nursing 3rd Year and DGNM I Year Students

As part of the Community Health Nursing curriculum, the 3rd-year B.Sc. Nursing 58 students and DGNM I Year 20 Students (total- 78 students) of St. John’s College of Nursing were visited a local water treatment plant in Thuthipet Village to gain practical insights into environmental sanitation and public health infrastructure. Students reached there at 10 am and they started to visit. Mr. Kaniamudhan (Owner of the Water plant) and Mr. Manikandan (Chemistrian) explained about Structure and Function of the water plant and complete water treatment.
Students observed the complete process of water purification—from intake and sedimentation to filtration and chlorination. They were also briefed by plant officials on quality control measures, water safety standards, and the role of treated water in disease prevention. This field visit enhanced students’ understanding of safe water supply systems and the importance of clean water in promoting community health. It also reinforced their role as future nurses in health education and advocacy related to waterborne diseases and hygiene practices
